Only this time, the fight isn’t for himself; it’s for his family

Plot

When a sinister threat from his childhood comes back to haunt him, a father desperately battles his deepest inner fear. This is the first PG-13 horror film to feature the “Lionsgate Red Gears” logo since 2012. Patrick McKee: Ever since we came back, I’ve been on edge about Jake’s kidnapping. While I’d never heard of the 2024 horror film “Bagman” before sitting down to watch it, there was no doubt that I would sit down to watch it.

Writer John Hulme crafted a script and story that definitely had potential

Why? Well, because a lifelong love affair with the horror genre ensures that any horror film available gets a fair shot. However, the narrative suffered from the film’s lack of highs and lows. It was a pretty dull viewing experience, with nothing particularly scary or exciting.

Visually, the film was fine

It’s a shame, really, because there was definitely potential in the story and script. It’s a shame that it didn’t live up to its promise. The only actor in the cast that I knew was William Hope, and he only had a supporting role to play. However, I will say that the performances in the film were fair, despite having a mundane script to work with.

And I doubt I’ll ever watch the film a second time

It wasn’t a horror film that relied heavily on special effects, and the effects that were present in the film were good enough. However, the design of the bogeyman itself wasn’t very impressive, and the big reveal after the hood was removed was a bit anticlimactic. It’s certainly watchable, but director Colm McCarthy just didn’t deliver a particularly memorable or remarkable horror film. If you’re a horror fan, like me, give the film a chance; you might find it more enjoyable than I did.
