A man quits his job to take care of his dying grandmother, motivated by her wealth. He plans to win her over before she passes away. This is actually the film debut of Usa Semkhum, a 78-year-old housewife who plays the role of Grandma Meng Ju. M: Have you ever been lonely? Amah: I wouldn’t call it lonely. It strives to maintain a sense of well-being without getting too caught up in melodrama or stress. With a strong Japanese dramatic influence, the mood and tone set by the score give the film a charming and pleasant feel, not too sad. While some of the attempts at comic relief can seem a bit unnecessary, overall it finds a balance that keeps it from sinking into overwhelming sadness. Despite that, there are still plenty of scenes that will bring tears to your eyes.
